OpusCapita 2009: Slight growth in turnover, considerable improvement in profitability
Software group Opus Capita's key financials for 2009 predict a favourable development for this year. Turnover showed slight growth and profitability picked up considerably from the previous year. Turnover in 2009 totalled almost EUR 14 million and EBIT about 10 per cent. Net profit for the financial year almost tripled.
According to Opus Capita’s CEO Kari J. Mäkelä, the company performed relatively well in extremely challenging economic conditions. This good performance was the result of the entire personnel’s hard work and new, cost-efficient operating methods and fruitful partnerships.
“With respect to our future, I am particularly pleased by the fact that we were able to improve our profitability despite the many major reforms we implemented, alongside ordinary business activities, in order to improve our services and operations. In response to customer needs, we carried out a major organisational overhaul, redefined our product offering and rearranged our service operations.”
Although the economic realities were equally bleak worldwide, the company was able to grow its markets in Scandinavia. Similarly, the partnership with the UK-based, globally operating IT2 Treasury Solutions Ltd proved successful.
During the year, sizeable product development projects were launched, with the objective of developing a browser feature for almost all OpusCapita applications.
“Browser interfaces will revolutionise our offering in 2010, as they allow us to offer an increasingly large number of OpusCapita applications as a service,” Mäkelä explains.
A large number of OpusCapita’s customers are groups of companies with international operations, and OpusCapita applications are used in more than 50 countries.
“We have an extremely long track record in international payments and cross-border monetary processes, and we work in excellent co-operation with banks. Being a service provider independent of banks, we can offer each customer the solution best suited to its needs.”
Profitable growth and business globalisation continue to be the company’s strategic objectives in the future.
In June, OpusCapita’s customers Vaisala Plc and Ramirent Plc were awarded in the Treasury Today Adam Smith Awards 2009. In the autumn, the company itself was listed on Deloitte’s EMEA Fast 500 growth companies list.
